I know that it has been a really long time since I have update. I guess I didn’t really feel a desire to do it. Nothing was working. No matter how hard or how little I tried, my weight just wanted to be stubborn. I could starve myself for a week, and gain weight, or I could just eat regularly and gain the same weight. So I stopped trying altogether, and thus had no desire to write about it until now.
For a while now I have suspected issues with my body, and thyroid dysfunction kept running through my head. My sister and my mother (who are both overweight) have recently been to a Naturopath and were both diagnosed with Thyroid issues. They started taking supplements and whatever else the doctor prescribed and started losing weight without even trying. Up to date, my sister has lost at least 50 pounds if not more (she doesn’t keep track and doesn’t weight herself regularly). My mother has lost 17 without trying one bit.
I decided that rather than starting another diet and putting more money into the dieting world, I would rather spend the money on going to the same Naturopath and actually getting checked out. Let me tell you, it was money very well spent!!
I had my 1st appt with the Naturopath on March 15th. We talked for a little, I gave him my background, explained to him the issues I was having and told him that I thought I had Thyroid issues and why and that maybe something else was wrong with me... but that was for him to figure out.
He ran several tests on me, including a blood test, a toxicity test, and a thyroid reflex test. The reflex test told him right then and there that I had a low functioning thyroid. But I had to wait 3 weeks to get all the other results back. That was not fun. Anyone who knows me well knows that patience is not a huge trait of mine...
During all this time, my weight crept up. The highest I’ve gotten so far this year is 194.6 and that was on April 6th.... my lowest weight this year was on February 17, and that was 188.4... So only about a 6 pound difference... Actually writing these numbers on here for everyone to read is really embarrassing.
On April 5th I had my 2nd Naturopath appt. This time he went over my test results and told me what I need to be doing. He set my test results on the desk, looked at me and said “You’re messed up.” lol... I just started laughing. Glad it wasn’t just all in my head. It was a relief to know that he found what was wrong with me and was actually able to fix my issues. I was and still am very excited! He explained what was wrong with my gut and why my body was not assimilating any vitamins or minerals. That has a lot to do with my not being able to lose weigh along with my Thyroid issues.
So far I have paid the Naturopath around $500 and my supplements have cost me around $175. It’s quite a lot of money, but I don’t regret it one bit. I have already seen quite a difference in my body within just a few days of taking the supplements he prescribed to me. I have noticed that I am LOT hungrier... which at first freaked me out... but I weighed myself and was very happy to see that within 2 days of starting the supplements, I lost 2 pounds without changing ANYTHING....
That is my update for now. I am going to give my body a few days (maybe a few weeks) to adjust to all this new stuff entering my body and after that I plan to REALLY start trying to lose weight. I am very optimistic at this point... I’ll keep you updated!

This morning I felt skinny (I don’t get it often, but I LOVE that feeling!!). I think its cause yesterday I tried REALLY hard to eat VERY little. Up until yesterday my eating has been horrible, but yesterday I portioned my food very carefully and ate only what I portioned out. Don’t get me wrong, I would have LOVED to eat more… but I just didn’t let myself. And even though right after I finished my portion I still felt hungry, I told myself that if I am still truly hungry in 20-30 minutes, I could eat more. But after some time went by, I was no longer hungry at all.
That to me was a revelation. I realized that I CAN survive with little amounts of food. I’m always afraid that if I don’t stuff myself uncomfortably full that I will be hungry in just a little bit. But I now know that I can eat little meals, drink lots of fluids, and I will survive!!
So even though I felt thinner this morning than I have in a long time, the scale didn’t agree with me. I weighed in at 190.2. I was disappointed, but I didn’t hate myself. I didn’t get depressed. I just told myself that its probably fluff/water weight from all the crappy, salty food I’ve been eating the last week or so. I know that if I continue to eat the way I did yesterday, I will start dropping pounds. I just got to stick to it!
So my current goal is still to get to 187.8. I just have not been able to get there. Maybe by next Thursday I will lose 2.4 and finally reach my goal… but who knows. My sisters birthday is this weekend… it’ll be a huge celebration. I just hope I am able to stop myself from gorging everything sight.

So last week when I weighed in on Thursday I was thrilled. I weighed in at 188.4, which meant that I only had to lose 0.6 oz to reach my goal of 187.8. I was really motivated & excited... for a little bit anyway.
Then reality set in. I just went crazy with food. It makes me disgusted to even think about, not to mention write about how my eating was for a few days. It all seems a blur right now. I don’t know what happened, but I feel like I ate everything in sight.
On Sunday we took a day trip to Seattle. The day itself was absolutely amazing! I had so much fun; I can’t even put it into words… We took the boys to the Lego store, they got to play there & pick out Lego's that they wanted to bring home with them. They really enjoyed that.
Me… well… let’s just say I got “spoiled”. I FINALLY got to go to a real Coach store. Here in Spokane, we don’t have a Coach Store. The closest we get is Macy’s carrying a few Coach purses and that’s it.
Anyway… I went all out & bought 2 Coach purses & a wallet… I was so happy I think I shrieked with excitement when I left the store!
So the day was great, but deep down I was really feeling horrible about my eating. We stopped for breakfast. I wasn’t hungry, but I ate. We went out to lunch with my brother & his wife. I wasn’t hungry, but I stuffed myself. Later on, after shopping, my sister-in-law & I went out for dessert. Once again I wasn’t hungry, but I still ate a bunch of really yummy dessert. THEN after all of that… we went out to dinner. I was NOT hungry at all. Yet I ate. Then, I ordered more food. I shoved a few bites down and thought I might explode, so I threw the rest of the food away.
So here is my summary. For a few days now, I have been eating absolutely crazy horrible. Why!!?? WHY do I do this to myself!!?? I just don’t get it! I’m not hungry, but I eat. It makes me feel disgusted with myself & I vow I will never do it again. Just a few hours later (sometimes minutes) I do the same exact thing all over again. Why can’t I just get it through my head that food will always be around. If I really want something, I just need to wait till I am HUNGRY, then I can eat it, and actually ENJOY it without feeling guilty.
Am I the only one who is like this? Does anyone else have this issue or am I just absolutely messed up?? Ugh! So frustrating!
Tomorrow is my next weigh in. I’ll let you know how I did. Ultimately, I’d like to weigh in tomorrow at 187.8 or LESS!!! Preferably less ; )

I am SO thrilled!! I have been having a hard time getting my scale to go down… but it finally did!! My most recent goal was to lose 1 pound. I wanted to go from 190.2 to 189.2. Last Thursday, February 3rd, I weighed in at 188.8. I know it’s still a huge number, but its less than I was hoping for!! I am really pleased! Not only did I reach my goal of losing 1 pound, but I surpassed it by a whole 4 ounces!! I lost 1.4 pounds for last week!! Yeah!!
My next goal is to lose another pound. I want to weigh in tomorrow morning at 187.8 or LESS!! I am really hopeful … but I think I’m having some doubts. I snuck in a “weigh in” here & there throughout the week, and have been disappointed with what I was seeing on the scale. I’m not holding my breath, but am really eager for the scale to move in the downward direction again.
I do have to admit that this week has not been one of my best dieting weeks. We have been going out quite a lot, and I really have not been listening to my body. This is unpleasant to admit, but I’ve been eating when I am absolutely NOT hungry. The foods there, the company is there, why not? I don’t even enjoy the food, but just cause its there, I’ve been eating it. Eeww. I know. I really need to work on that. If only I would listen to my body, trust it, and only feed it when it really needed it, I could be super skinny.
Oh well. I’m not letting myself get too disappointed. I know I messed up; no point in focusing on it too much. Time to learn from my mistake & move on.
Tomorrow is my next weigh in. Hopefully I’ll reach my goal and I won’t put off posting about it. I’ll let you know how it goes.

You can do all the planning you want,
But if you don’t take action, all your
Planning will be in vain and nothing
You do will flourish.

This hit the spot this morning as I was reading my calendar. January has gone, and I achieved no success with my dieting at all. I had all these plans, all these dreams, and I did absolutely nothing to achieve them. I kept thinking about doing something, but I didn’t give it any effort. I thought I would just lose weight without actually trying. Yeah. That didn’t happen.
Not only did I not do anything to help myself lose weight, but I also kept putting off blogging about it because I felt like such a loser.
Well, time to fess up. I am a loser. (Wish I was a weight loser, but I’m not). I was lazy & not motivated most of January. There were a few days where I “attempted” to diet... but that only lasted... well... a few days.
I started January weighing 188.60… then during the actual month I ended up gaining around 3 pounds which put me at 191.4. For someone trying to LOSE weight, I sure wasn’t doing a good job of it. I ended the month weighting 190.2. Not a good month at all (but only weight wise), other than that it was an AMAZING month!
I definitely planned… planned to be strict with myself and to follow a good diet faithfully. Planned to lose at least 8 pounds for the month of January. But did I take any action? Nope. Not at all. Did I flourish? Sure, but not the way I had hoped. My body flourished & got even bigger.
I have this weight tracker app on my IPhone. So one day, I was looking at my “stats” and I burst out laughing. It listed my statistics such as my maximum weight, minimum weight, and my average gain/loss (which, by the way, said that I have been gaining an average of ½ pound per week) since I’ve been using the app. Then at the very bottom it said: “At this rate, you will NEVER reach your target weight.” Really? Seriously? That is SO un-motivational! I know it’s true based on my stats, but still, to actually read it seemed a little harsh (but eye opening).
I sure hope I can do much better in the month of February…
I know I haven’t updated in a while. Been meaning to, but it’s been just such a busy, fun month that I just put it off… until now.
So my goal for December was to lose 7 pounds by New Years so I could be “ok” with wearing a bathing suit at our hotel pool. Yeah. That did NOT happen. Not only did I not lose the 7 pounds, but I gained 1 on top of that!! At least it’s just 1 and not more. But still, it sucks.
I started the year at my highest (non-pregnancy) weight ever. In January I weighed in at 194.0. Crazy!! I gave birth to my 3rd child at 193 2 years prior to this… so to not be pregnant and to weight that much… not cool at all!!
In January 2010 I started a work provided program called Naturally Slim. Within 10 weeks, I lost 10 pounds. After that I tried several other diets such as the South Beach Diet & also Weight Watchers amongst a few others. The lowest that I got down to for the whole year was 178.1. I was on a roll and very excited. But that’s as far as I got. Little by little, instead of going down, my weight started creeping back up…
Now it’s December 2010, and I weighed in at 188.0 this morning. So that’s a total of 6 pounds lost in 1 whole year. Kind of seems horrible. But if I look on the bright side, it is 6 pounds down instead of up for the year.
I have big plans and hopes for my weight in 2011. I plan to jump right in come January and really stay focused and stick to ONE diet for the whole year, instead of trying a new one every few weeks and not really giving it time to work the way it’s supposed to.
My diet choice for 2011 is Naturally Slim. Why? Because it’s the easiest, the cheapest, and it’s the one I lost the most weight on in 2010. I only gave it 10 weeks in 2010 and I lost 10. So, if I give it the full 52 weeks in 2011, I could be 52 pounds lighter by 2012…. Actually, I would like to be 50 pounds lighter by May of 2011… but we’ll see how that goes.
Hope you have a wonder New Year’s celebration!! Spend plenty quality time with your loved ones, enjoy your time, and may you have a blessed 2011!!

I have great news! I finally got an iPhone!! For those of you that know me well, you know that I have wanted one badly for SO long!! But finally, I have one!! And do I love it?? Yes I do!! Not only is it as good as I thought it would be, it’s even better!!
There are so many awesome apps on there that you can download, and there are tons that are free! I have many on there that work really well to track your weight loss (or gain), the food that you eat during the day, counts your calories, there are also apps that track your exercise, give you advice, track how much water you drink during the day. I am really big on “seeing”, so I REALLY enjoy tracking all my stuff, that way I can see it all laid out for me in graphs or charts or whatever way I choose to organize it.
A few of my favorite apps are:
- MyFitnessPal (tracks pretty much all your weight related stuff)
- TargetWeight (tracks your weight, sets goals, lets you know how much you got to lose by when)
- Water Lite (tells you how much water you should be consuming for the day, and keeps track of how much you actually drank)
- Ideal Weight (tells you what YOUR ideal weight should be; according to them, my weight should be 153 pounds, which sounds right to me. That means I have to lose 30 pounds!! Wow!! That’s a big number! But, I’ll break it down, maybe into 10s, or even 7s, and try to aim at smaller goals at a time…hopefully, sooner than later, I will reach my Ideal Weight)
So far those are my favorite weight loss tools on there…. Keep in mind though, I have only had the iPhone for like 2 weeks or so, so I have yet to look through all the apps… and we’re just the talking the free ones for now.. who knows how many awesome ones there are that you actually have to pay for ; ) maybe one day I’ll splurge and purchase a few… lol
I would like you to share with me. What are YOUR favorite apps on the iPhone? Are there any on there that you think are worth paying for? Have any of them actually helped you in your weight loss journey??
Looking forward to hearing from you!!
